Claremont High School Football Star Charged with Rape
A Claremont High School football star is being charged with two counts of statutory rape for allegedly having sex with two underage girls. The student is identified as 18-year-ols Tyler Singleton and he appeared in the Pomona Superior Court on Wednesday. The senior did not enter a plea and the hearing is postponed to March 30. Prosecutors filed a criminal complaint on Tuesday that Singleton had unlawful sex in January with two girls. One of the girls was 14-year-old at the time and the other girl was 15 years old at the time. One of the counts is a felony, while the other one is a misdemeanor. If Singleton is convicted of both charges, then he could face up to three and a half years in prison. Singleton was arrested sometime last month after the 14-year-old classmate told police that Singleton forced her to have sex with him in a bathroom at Cahuilla Park in Claremont. Singleton admitted to having sex with the girl, but describes it as being consensual according to Claremont Police.
